سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى١
[Prophet], glorify the name of your Lord the Most High
Surah 87 · 19 Ayahs
Al-A'la
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of God, the Lord of Mercy, the Giver of Mercy
- الَّذِي خَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ٢
who created [all things] in due proportion
- وَالَّذِي قَدَّرَ فَهَدَىٰ٣
who determined their destinies and guided them
- وَالَّذِي أَخْرَجَ الْمَرْعَىٰ٤
who brought out the green pasture
- فَجَعَلَهُ غُثَاءً أَحْوَىٰ٥
then made it dark debris
- سَنُقْرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنْسَىٰ٦
[Prophet], We shall teach you [the Quran] and you will not forget––
- إِلَّا مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُ يَعْلَمُ الْجَهْرَ وَمَا يَخْفَىٰ٧
unless God wishes; He knows both what is open and what is hidden––
- وَنُيَسِّرُكَ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ٨
We shall show you the easy way
- فَذَكِّرْ إِنْ نَفَعَتِ الذِّكْرَىٰ٩
So remind, if reminding will help
- سَيَذَّكَّرُ مَنْ يَخْشَىٰ١٠
Those who stand in awe of God will heed the reminder
- وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا الْأَشْقَى١١
but it will be ignored by the most wicked
- الَّذِي يَصْلَى النَّارَ الْكُبْرَىٰ١٢
who will enter the Great Fire
- ثُمَّ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحْيَىٰ١٣
where they will neither die nor live
- قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَنْ تَزَكَّىٰ١٤
Prosperous are those who purify themselves
- وَذَكَرَ اسْمَ رَبِّهِ فَصَلَّىٰ١٥
remember the name of their Lord, and pray
- بَلْ تُؤْثِرُونَ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا١٦
Yet you [people] prefer the life of this world
- وَالْآخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰ١٧
even though the Hereafter is better and more lasting
- إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَفِي الصُّحُفِ الْأُولَىٰ١٨
All this is in the earlier scriptures
- صُحُفِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ١٩
the scriptures of Abraham and Moses
